Bhimtal is a town and a nagar panchayat in Nainital district in the state of Uttarakhand, Indiasituated at an altitude of 1370 meters above sea level and is about 22 kilometers fromNainital. The major attraction in Bhimtal is the Bhimtal Lake which has an island at its centre. Besides tourism, Bhimtal has also now become a mini district headquarters since most of the district administration offices have been shifted to the newly constructed Vikas Bhawan, the building complex for district administrative offices.
Nakuchiyatal
Naukuchiatal or the 'nine cornered lake' is 4km further down Bhimtal. The lake is one of the most beautiful and cleanest too. Apart from the boating and fishing on th lake one can take a walk around the lake with loads of nature in form of flora and fauna to go along side you. The lake is situated at an altitude of 1200 m and has a pleasant weather all thur the year.
Sattal
Sattal, a group of seven interrelated freshwater lakes, is a part of the Nainital district in the state of Uttaranchal. Located just 23 kms away from Nainital, the favored hill station of British officials, Sattal is an emerging, pristine site for tourism. Set in the Himalayan backdrop, amidst the luxuriant greens of the Kumaon hills, the place is a paradise for nature lovers, environmentalists and tourists alike. The word 'Sat Tal' in Hindi actually means 'a cluster of seven lakes'. The names of the seven lakes are as follows:
- Garud or Panna Tal
- Nal-Damyanti Tal
- Sita Tal
- Ram Tal
- Laxman Tal
- Purna Tal
- Khurdariya Tal or Sukha Tal
Saria tal is about 2-3 kms from Nainital.
Khurpatal
Khurpatal is a very popular place which is located at an altitude of 1635 mtr above sea level. It is around 12km distance from Nainital if you go by drive but if you walk from Nainital it will be just 5km as you would be following a shorter trail. You can find crystal clear water & fishing harvest here so it is specially known as the anglers paradise.
