St. Joseph's Collage


St. Joseph's College Nainital was established in 1888. The site was the location of a seminary, run by the Italian Capuchin Fathers. The seminary ran for a short while and then reopened as a Catholic school for boys: St. Joseph's College. The school is still referred to as "SEM" (for Seminary). In 1892 four Christian Brothers took formal charge of St. Joseph's College and thus began the involvement of the Christian Brothers in the running of the school. St. Joseph’s is one of the educational institutions in India for boys conducted by the Christian Brothers. English is the medium of instruction and examination in this institution , which is affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations , New Delhi . The school year extends from March to November . For admissions one may collect & submit application form up to 31st July of the year . Selection tests for only the two new classes admitted each year are normally taken ,Class 1, (Dayscholars only) and class 3 (Boarders and Day scholars) in September or October .


Sherwood Collage






Sherwood was founded in July, 1867. This project was the brain-child of a Dr. Condon, Mr. H.S. Reid and others and under the patronage of the Rt. Rev. Robert Milman, DD, the seventh Metropolitan of India. The idea took shape as the Nainital Diocesan School, as Sherwood was once called. 


St. Mary's Convent


St. Mary's Convent was established by Mother Salesia Reiner in 1878. The institution is a Roman Catholic institution and run/managed by Sisters belonging to IBMV order. The School provides Schooling exclusively to girls from Prep to 12th under ICSE and ISC Board.




All Saint's School

All Saints College was founded in 1869 and is a pioneer institution for Women's education. It is an English Medium residential cum Day College for girls from Class I to XII. Birla Vidya Mandir

Birla Vidya Mandir, Nainital is a Residential Public School for boys in India that opened in July 1947. The School is the product of the vision of Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant, an Indian independence activist. The Birla Vidya Mandir School begins for students who want to study in Class 4th till Class 12th. Though being an English medium School, the teachers are referred to as 'Guruji' and 'Didiji'.
